Dental emergencies are stressful and sometimes scary! Omaha dentist Dr. Amber Allen and her team understand this, and they leave room in their schedule to accommodate same day appointments, even if you are a new patient.
It is also helpful if you understand how to handle certain emergency situations. Here are some common dental emergencies, and what you should do until you can get to our office.
- A knocked-out tooth: Act quickly and contact us right away in this situation as we have a better chance of restoring your tooth the quicker we can treat it. Transport your tooth carefully, either by placing it back in its socket, or using milk to keep cells alive and moist.
- A broken tooth: Contact us right away if you have a broken tooth. Gather the pieces and transport them carefully to our office. Dr. Allen will determine the best treatment for your situation.
- A lost or broken restoration: An old dental restoration that breaks or falls out will need treatment right away in order to prevent further damage, even if it doesn't hurt. Contact our office for further instructions.
- Dental pain: Often indicating an infection, dental pain should never be ignored. Don't wait for it to go away on its own because a dental infection can spread. Root canal therapy may be necessary to preserve your tooth, so contact our office right away.

As a service to our patients, we will also file all insurance claims to your carrier with supportive documentation to get them paid faster.
